Navi Mutual Fund has opened the NFO of Navi Multi Asset Omni FoF, a fund of funds that spreads your money across equity, debt, gold and silver through other mutual fund schemes. Navi AMC Limited accepts applications from 19-10-2026 to 02-11-2026.
A fund of funds does not buy shares or bonds itself. It buys units of other funds. Here, the fund manager picks the equity schemes, debt schemes and gold and silver ETFs to hold, and can change the mix over time.
The pitch is simplicity: one folio, one manager making the allocation calls, and entry from ₹100. Here is what the scheme information document (SID) says.

What has Navi Mutual Fund launched?
Navi Multi Asset Omni FoF is an open-ended fund of funds. Open-ended means you can buy or sell units on any business day at that day’s NAV, the price of one unit.
At least 95% of the money goes into equity-oriented schemes, debt-oriented schemes, and gold and silver ETFs. An ETF is a fund that trades on the stock exchange and tracks the price of an asset, here gold or silver. Up to 5% can sit in debt and money market instruments, which are short-term holdings for cash.
The stated aim is capital appreciation and income through equity, debt and commodities. The SID says it does not guarantee any returns.
This is an actively managed fund, not an index tracker. Rushabh Patel decides how much goes into each bucket and which underlying schemes to hold.

How does this fund of funds work?
Step | What happens? |
1 | You buy units at ₹10 each during the NFO. |
2 | The fund manager sets a split across the four buckets within the SID’s limits. |
3 | At least 95% of your money buys units of other schemes and ETFs. |
4 | The AMC aims to put NFO money to work within 30 business days of allotment. |
5 | The manager can shift money between buckets as conditions change, within the limits. |
6 | If a limit is crossed passively, the mix must be restored within 30 business days. |
7 | NAV is published every business day, before 10:00 a.m. the next business day. |
A simple example of how the fund works
Say you invest ₹10,000 in the NFO. The manager might place ₹4,000 in equity schemes, ₹3,000 in debt schemes, ₹2,500 in gold and silver ETFs and keep ₹500 as cash or money market holdings.
Later, the manager may shift ₹1,000 from debt schemes into gold ETFs. You do nothing. Your units stay the same; what sits behind them changes. This shows the mechanics only, not a forecast or the fund’s actual split.
Portfolio allocation of the Navi multi asset FoF
Instrument | Minimum | Maximum |
Units of underlying schemes and permitted instruments (total) | 95% | 100% |
Equity-oriented schemes | 15% | 65% |
Debt-oriented schemes | 15% | 65% |
Gold & Silver ETFs | 15% | 65% |
Debt and money market instruments | 0% | 5% |
The scheme does not invest in overseas securities, commodity or debt derivatives, non-hedging equity derivatives, securitised debt, unrated instruments or InvITs.
Investment strategy and costs
There is no stock picking at this level. The manager’s job is to choose the split and the underlying schemes. The SID currently lists schemes such as Navi Flexicap Fund and HDFC Flexicap Fund (equity), SBI Dynamic Bond Fund (debt) and Nippon India Gold BEES ETF (gold). Navi can add others through an addendum.
Costs come in two layers. The scheme can charge up to 1.85% of daily average net assets, and the underlying funds charge their own expenses as well.
So you may earn less than by holding the underlying funds directly in the same proportions. The Direct plan costs less because it carries no distributor commission.
Redemption proceeds are due within 3 business days of a valid request. Frequent switching between underlying schemes can raise transaction costs.
Potential benefits of the Navi multi asset FoF
Potential benefit | Why does it matter? |

Point | What does it mean? |
Two layers of cost | Scheme expenses up to 1.85% plus the underlying funds’ own. |

Plan choice | Regular includes distributor commission. Direct does not. |
Tax on gains | The SID’s tax table lists 12.5% after 24 months and 20% within 24 months, plus surcharge and cess. Confirm yours with a tax adviser. |
Underlying schemes can change | The listed schemes are current picks; others can be added. |

Navi Multi Asset Omni FoF review by Zenith Finserve
This fund suits people who want equity, debt and gold in one place and are happy to let a manager adjust the mix. The limits are wide, so two investors who buy on different days could hold quite different splits. That flexibility is the point, and also a reason to check the portfolio after launch.
In our reading, it fits a goal at least five to seven years out, such as a 2033 education fund, where you will not need the money soon. Costs matter more the longer you hold, so compare Direct and Regular expense ratios once the fund is live. Our note on investment horizon helps match a fund to a timeline.
It can also sit beside a core equity holding. Check first whether you already own the same underlying schemes, since overlap would cut the benefit. Suitability depends on your goals, cash flows and existing investments. This is a news report, not a recommendation.
