quant Silver ETF FOF is a new open-ended fund of funds from quant Mutual Fund, run by quant Money Managers Limited. Its NFO opens on 04-11-2026 and closes on 06-11-2026.
Almost all of the money goes into units of quant Silver ETF, an exchange traded fund that tracks the domestic price of physical silver. The aim is long-term capital appreciation, with no guarantee.
The appeal: silver through an ordinary mutual fund account, with SIPs, instead of bars or exchange trades.

What has quant Mutual Fund launched?
This fund does not buy silver itself. It buys units of quant Silver ETF, which holds physical silver: a wrapper, in effect.
At least 95% goes into the ETF. Up to 5% can sit in treasury bills, money market instruments or liquid fund units to meet redemptions.
It is passive: the NAV simply follows the domestic silver price, less costs.
Why wrap an existing ETF? An ETF trades on the exchange and needs a demat account. This FoF works like any mutual fund, with SIPs and redemptions at NAV.
The SID is filed under SEBI’s Mutual Fund Lite (MF Lite) framework, a simpler rulebook for passive schemes. Our reading: it changes how the scheme reports, not what you own.
How does this silver fund of fund work?
Your money takes two hops before it reaches silver.
Step | What happens? |
1. You invest | You buy units at ₹10 in the NFO, or at NAV later. Money in before the 3 pm cut-off gets that day’s NAV. |
2. ETF units are bought | Sums above ₹25 crore are exchanged directly with the AMC; smaller sums buy ETF units on the exchange. |
3. The ETF holds silver | quant Silver ETF holds physical silver and follows its domestic price. |
4. The NAV is set | ETF units are valued at their closing exchange price, or the ETF’s NAV if they did not trade. |
5. A buffer stays liquid | Up to 5% sits in money market instruments or liquid funds. |
6. You redeem | Units are sold at NAV, with payment usually within 3 working days. |
A simple example of how your money moves
This is a made-up illustration of the process, not a return forecast.
Kavita, a 41-year-old teacher in Surat, puts ₹50,000 into the NFO. After 0.005% stamp duty (₹2.50), she gets 4,999.75 units at ₹10.
The FoF pools her money and buys quant Silver ETF units. If silver rises, the ETF and her NAV rise. If silver falls, both fall.
If she redeems ₹10,000 ten days after allotment, the 1% exit load takes ₹100. After day 15, nothing is deducted.
Portfolio allocation of this NFO
Instrument | Indicative allocation (% of total assets) |
Units of quant Silver ETF | 95% to 100% |
Debt, money market instruments, treasury bills, government securities repo and liquid fund units | 0% to 5% |
No shares, derivatives, foreign securities or other FoFs, and no lending or short selling. In effect, you own one asset: silver.
Investment strategy, costs and liquidity
No picking is involved. The managers keep 95% to 100% in the ETF and must deploy NFO money within 30 business days.
Costs come in two layers, the key number in any FoF. The FoF can charge up to 0.90% a year, and you also bear the ETF’s own expense, 0.59% as on 30-09-2026 per the KIM.
At those caps, the total could reach about 1.49%. The Direct plan, with no distributor commission, costs less.
You redeem with the AMC at NAV on any business day. In a market-wide crisis, though, redemptions above ₹2 lakh can be limited for up to 10 working days in any 90-day period.
Potential benefits of this silver FoF
Potential benefit | Why does it matter? |
No exchange orders | You buy and redeem with the AMC at NAV. |
Built for SIPs | SIPs from ₹1,000, plus STP, SWP and a SIP pause of up to 3 months. |
No storage or purity worries | The ETF holds the silver, so no lockers or purity checks. |
A different asset in one fund | Adds a commodity to shares and bonds, supporting diversification. |
A clear yardstick | The NAV follows the domestic price of physical silver. |
Key risks to know before investing
Risk | What does it mean? |
Market risk | Silver can fall sharply and the fund takes no defensive positions, so your NAV falls with it. |
Concentration risk | One metal, through one ETF. No spread across assets. |
Double expense | You pay both the FoF’s and the ETF’s costs, so returns can trail the ETF. |
Tracking gap | Costs, the cash buffer and ETF price moves can make returns differ from silver’s. |
Liquidity risk | Thin ETF trading can add costs when the FoF deals on the exchange. |
Valuation delay | A late ETF NAV can delay the FoF’s NAV. |
Interest rate and credit risk | Small, as at most 5% sits in debt and money market instruments. |
Who may consider this fund?
Investor type | Why it may fit |
Investors adding a small silver slice to an existing portfolio (our reading) | Pure silver exposure that sits beside equity and debt funds. |
SIP investors without a broker | Units come from the AMC at NAV, with SIPs from ₹1,000. |
NRIs, PIOs and OCIs | They can invest on a repatriation or non-repatriation basis, subject to US and Canada limits. |
Investors with an investment horizon of three years or more | Silver swings sharply; units held over 24 months also get long-term tax treatment. |
Who may not find it suitable?
Investor type | Why it may not fit |
Anyone who may need the money soon | Silver can drop quickly, and a 1% exit load applies within 15 days. |
Investors wanting regular income | IDCW is not assured. |
Cost-focused investors with a demat account | Buying the ETF directly avoids the extra expense layer. |
First-time investors with no core portfolio (our reading) | A single-metal fund is a side holding, not a starting point. |
US persons and Canadian residents | The SID bars them, with narrow exceptions. |
How does it compare with FDs, mutual funds and physical silver?
Option | Risk | Return potential | Volatility | Liquidity | Horizon | Suitable investor |
Fixed deposit | Low | Fixed at booking | Very low | Penalty on early exit | Fixed tenure | Certainty |
Debt mutual fund | Low to moderate | Moderate | Low to moderate | Redeem on business days | 1 to 3 years | Stability |
Hybrid fund | Moderate | Moderate to high | Moderate | Redeem on business days | 3 to 5 years | Balance |
Equity mutual fund | High | High | High | Redeem on business days | 5 years or more | Growth |
Physical or digital silver | High | Tied to silver price | High | Depends on buyer | Long term | Owning the metal |
This new fund | High | Tied to silver price, less costs | High | Business days; 1% load within 15 days | 3 years or more | A silver slice |

NFO review by Zenith Finserve
This NFO offers convenience, not a new idea: peer silver FoFs have run since 2022, and quant’s own ETF launched only in August 2026.
It fits as a small satellite beside a core of equity and debt funds, for someone with at least a three-year view who wants silver through SIPs. It is no place for an emergency fund or next year’s goal. Nothing cushions a fall in silver.
Before applying, check the combined cost of both layers once published, and whether the ETF suits you better if you have a demat account. This is our interpretation, not a recommendation, so review your asset allocation first.

How does this NFO compare with similar NFOs and existing silver funds?
We have not yet covered another open silver NFO. The closest open NFOs on our site:
JioBlackRock Advantage World Equity Fund NFO: also a fund of funds, but it holds an overseas equity fund via GIFT City, not silver.
Abakkus Dynamic Asset Allocation Fund NFO: a hybrid core option, open 16-11-2026 to 30-11-2026, unlike this single-metal fund.
Existing silver options, with figures from each AMC’s documents:
Fund | Mandate | Costs | Liquidity | Key risk | Track record |
This NFO | FoF; 95% to 100% in quant Silver ETF | Up to 0.90% plus ETF’s 0.59% | 1% exit load within 15 days | Silver price; double cost | Not available (new) |
ETF on physical silver price; launched 17-08-2026 | 0.59% (30-09-2026) | NSE-traded; demat needed; no exit load | Silver price; trading liquidity | Not available (under 3 months)
FoF; since 2022 | Regular 0.56%, Direct 0.17%, plus ETF’s 0.34% (30-09-2026) | 1% exit load within 15 days | Silver price; double cost | Growth, 30-09-2026: 51.89% (1 year), 42.55% a year (3 years)
FoF; since 02-02-2022 | Not in AMC product note | 1% exit load within 15 days | Silver price; double cost | Regular, 30-09-2026: 52.09% (1 year), 42.43% a year (3 years) |
Why these: quant Silver ETF is this fund’s own underlying and the direct route for demat holders; ICICI Prudential and Nippon India are same-category FoFs with records since 2022.
Past performance may or may not be sustained in future.

Frequently asked questions
Is quant Silver ETF FOF NFO good to invest in?
That depends on your goals rather than the fund alone.
It suits investors who want a small silver holding through SIPs and can sit through sharp price swings for three years or more. It is not meant for short-term money.
We do not recommend any fund, so compare it with your existing asset mix first.
What does quant Silver ETF FOF invest in?
It puts 95% to 100% of its assets into units of quant Silver ETF, which holds physical silver and tracks its domestic price.
Up to 5% may sit in treasury bills, money market instruments, repo on government securities or liquid fund units.
It does not buy shares, derivatives or foreign securities.
What are the quant Silver ETF FOF NFO dates?
The NFO opens on 04-11-2026 and closes on 06-11-2026.
Units are expected to be allotted on or around 16-11-2026, about 5 working days after the close.
The fund then reopens for daily purchases and redemptions within 5 business days of allotment.
What is the minimum investment in quant Silver ETF FOF?
The minimum lump sum is ₹5,000, both during the NFO and later, in multiples of ₹1.

Weekly, fortnightly and monthly SIPs start at ₹1,000, and quarterly SIPs at ₹3,000, each with at least 6 instalments.
What is the exit load on quant Silver ETF FOF?
A 1% exit load applies if you redeem or switch out within 15 days of allotment, whatever the amount.
This includes units bought through SIP or STP. After 15 days, no exit load applies.
Switching between the Regular and Direct plans of this scheme carries no exit load.
What is the expense ratio of quant Silver ETF FOF?
The FoF can charge a base expense of up to 0.90% a year of daily net assets.
You also bear the expense of the underlying quant Silver ETF, stated as 0.59% on 30-09-2026.
The actual total expense ratio will be published on the AMC’s website from the first NAV date.
Should I choose quant Silver ETF FOF or quant Silver ETF?
The ETF has one layer of cost but needs a demat account and trades on the exchange, where prices can differ slightly from NAV.
The FoF adds its own cost but works like a regular mutual fund, with SIPs and redemptions at NAV. If you already trade ETFs, the direct ETF is the cheaper route.
How are gains from quant Silver ETF FOF taxed?
Under current rules, as explained by TaxGuru, units of a silver fund of fund held for more than 24 months give long-term capital gains, taxed at 12.5% without indexation, plus surcharge and cess.
Units sold within 24 months give short-term gains, taxed at your slab rate. Tax rules change, so confirm with a tax adviser.
Who manages quant Silver ETF FOF?
The fund managers are: Sameer Kate and Sanjeev Sharma, each with about 20 years of experience, and Yug Tibrewal, with about 8 years.
Can NRIs invest in quant Silver ETF FOF?
Yes. NRIs, Persons of Indian Origin and Overseas Citizens of India can invest on a repatriation or non-repatriation basis.
US persons and Canadian residents are generally barred, though NRIs and PIOs may make lump sum investments while physically present in India, with extra paperwork.
What is the MF Lite framework in the quant Silver ETF FOF SID?
MF Lite is a lighter set of SEBI rules for passively managed schemes such as index funds, ETFs and FoFs that hold them.
For this fund, it mainly shapes how the scheme document presents its disclosures. Our reading: it does not change what the fund holds or what it costs.
What happens if quant Silver ETF FOF does not raise enough money?
The scheme needs at least ₹10 crore during the NFO to start. If it falls short, all money will be refunded within 5 business days of the NFO closing.
