SEBI has launched the ‘Samajh Se Investing Simple’ campaign under Project Jagrook to simplify investing, strengthen financial literacy and help people identify investment frauds. It has also introduced the MUST initiative for students and announced its official WhatsApp presence.
The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has launched the ‘Samajh Se Investing Simple’ campaign under Project Jagrook to promote financial literacy and informed investing.
The campaign was launched at Panjab University, Chandigarh, on October 5, 2026, during World Investor Week (WIW) 2026. The 10th edition of WIW is being observed in India from October 5 to 11, 2026, under the aegis of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO).
The campaign is being implemented by SEBI along with Securities Market Partners, including stock exchanges, depositories, the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) and the National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM).
The initiative aims to make investing easier to understand and encourage informed and responsible decisions. It focuses on helping people understand investment products, their features and risks, verify the authenticity of investment platforms and payment requests, and protect themselves from financial fraud.
Must initiative for students
SEBI has also launched the Mentoring of University/College Students by Trainers (MUST) initiative to improve financial literacy among students.
Under MUST, selected faculty members, staff or senior students will be trained and certified by SEBI, its Securities Market Partners and NISM as Partner Trainers. They will then conduct financial literacy and securities market awareness programmes within colleges and universities.
SEBI is also working with the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) to expand the initiative across educational institutions.
SEBI announces official WhatsApp presence
SEBI has announced its official presence on WhatsApp to make investor education resources more accessible through a widely used digital platform.
The official SEBI WhatsApp Channel can be accessed through 1800 22 7575 and will carry a verified blue tick to help users identify the authentic account.
What does it mean for you?
The campaign gives you additional resources to understand investment products, verify investment-related communications and identify potential frauds. The WhatsApp channel also provides another way to access SEBI’s investor awareness information through an official source.
